Everything you need for the wicking system

Your kit includes the essential components to create the self-watering system inside your timber garden bed.

Included in your kit:

• 1 set of 4 powder-coated galvanised steel corner brackets
• 1 bottom pond liner
• 1 top pond liner strip
• 8 wicking cells
• 1 water inlet pipe
• 1 overflow pipe
• 20 L of perlite

The modular design makes it possible to create a productive wicking bed using your own choice of suitable timber sleepers.

Choose your garden bed height

Both configurations have an external footprint of approximately 1700 mm × 900 mm.

400 mm height - Standard

A versatile option for everyday backyard vegetable gardening.

You’ll need:

• 4 timber sleepers, each 2400 × 200 × 50 mm
• Cut 4 lengths to 1600 mm and 4 lengths to 800 mm. Most hardware stores will cut your timber to length for you.

600 mm height - Deep

A deeper, more elevated option for gardeners who prefer a higher working position and additional bed depth.

You’ll need:

• 6 timber sleepers, each 2400 × 200 × 50 mm
• Cut 6 lengths to 1600 mm and 6 lengths to 800 mm. Most hardware stores will cut your timber to length for you.

*Timber sleepers and growing medium are not included. The selected height determines the number of sleepers required.

What else will you need?

To complete your garden bed, you’ll need suitable timber sleepers and quality potting mix or growing medium appropriate for wicking beds. You may also need basic DIY tools and fixings for your chosen construction.

Once assembled, fill your bed with your growing medium, plant your favourite seasonal crops and fill the reservoir through the inlet pipe. The overflow helps prevent excess water from accumulating beyond the intended reservoir level.
